Sioh Paste

Sioh is a traditional Nyonya dish that goes back many generations. It can be tedious to prepare (even though we make it so easy for you), so you don’t see it on menus everywhere. It is much-loved in traditional Peranakan households. The sticky sauce coats the meat and goes wonderfully with rice. It pairs well with beef, chicken, lamb or vegetables.

If you really want to enjoy this hard-to-get classic as the Peranakans do, marinade it in advance and let it sit in the fridge overnight. You won’t be disappointed. Sioh can be baked, fried or barbequed.
